Grilled Figgy Pies

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Sheets of refrigerated pie crust
  • 12 Dried Figs
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Walnuts
  • 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2/3 Cup Mascarpone Cheese
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 tbsp Water

Instructions
 

  • Warm the pie crust at room temperature
  • In a saucepan, combine the figs with warm water and cook them 15-20 minutes
  • Drain the figs and cut them, set them aside
  • In the same saucepan, combine nutmeg, walnuts, cinnamon and maple syrup.Cook them 5 minutes
  • Spread nuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper ; freeze for about 10 minutes.
  • Using a round cutter, cut 12 circles of pie crust
  • Stir vanilla and remaining maple syrup with mascarpone cheese. Spread 1 tablespoon of mascarpone mixture over half of each circle. Then, layer with 2 teaspoons maple walnuts and 4 fig pieces.
  • Prepare egg and water to moisten the edge of the crust
  • Fold the edges of the crust and press the edges with a fork to seal them
  • Grill the pies 5-7 minutes per side
